Our Humble Beginnings...
We left the town life of Hood River Oregon in 2022 and got a few acres just outside of town in county land. Over the first year we built a lot of structures and add-ons and landscaped and farmed. We spent the first year developing our vibe here at Rancho Relaxo and our "thing" that we'll "do" here at the Ranch. Over that year we entertained and were entertained by sheep, goats, mini zebu, alpacas, llamas, pigs, and a handful of various farm birds.
After a year of a fun and chaos, we decided that sheep would be our vibe. We love their peacefulness and their playfulness. We hope to be able to eventually develop some sheep milk products. We have two main breeds that we are focused on: The Valais Blacknose Sheep and the Gotland. At this stage in our development of the breeds here, we are blessed with a variety of half breeds including Romneys, Clubbies, Southdown, Finn, Tunis, Wensleydale and Teeswaters. We've learned a lot about wool and are deep in the process of building a small business of cleaning and selling their raw fibers.
Over the summer of 2023, our flock grew quite a bit. We are up to 22 head, and we have 20 bred ewes that will be sharing with us their crop of F1, F2, and F3 Valais Blacknose Sheep. We may see a few babydolls come our way too, as we did have a very motivated Spotted Babydoll Ram around the ranch for a few months as well. :)
Lambs are due to arrive towards the second half of March and we should be lambing into early April. We can't wait to share our adorable little lambs with the world!
